Learn the essential techniques of screen printing in this one-day workshop focused on hand-made methods of creating multi-layered prints on paper.
Instructors: Angie Coe & Melissa Dettloff (the CopyCats)
Students will be guided through the hands-on process of designing and printing their own custom two-color screen print on paper from start to finish. While learning the basic skills of screen printing, students will have space to explore a hand-made approach to image making, using drawing tools and recycled materials to add layers of color and texture. Come prepared to experiment, get inky, and walk away with a set of personal prints made by you!
By the end of the workshop, students will:
- Produce an edition of ten 5x7” two-color prints on paper to take home
- Develop original designs using hand-drawn tools and textured materials
- Prepare screens for the printing process using emulsion in the darkroom
- Choose and mix colors, learning the fundamentals of color layering
- Learn how to register two-color prints and make prints on paper
