“Most Wanted” Print

Four-color screen print of milkweed and other things that grow in my backyard.

This print is the result of a survey that patrons on my Patreon submitted regarding their preferences in art. Inspired by Komar & Melamid’s 1994 Most Wanted paintings project, I took the survey results and created this four-color screen print.

A brief summary of the results of the survey: An image of mostly blues and greens and with a modern feel, featuring wild foods in an outdoor scene in autumn. Colors should be vibrant, the mood should be festive. The foods should be ordinary but contemporary, and they should be in a group.

I went with the “wild foods” idea and focused on edible plants that grow in my backyard in Detroit: milkweed, dandelions, burdock, grape leaves, etc. The print includes the utility pole in the back corner of my yard.

I maximized the four color layers in the image with transparent inks and many color overlays.
