Lately I’ve been doing a little bit of everything and have about half a dozen projects I’m working on. One recent project was designing and sewing a sample garden bag. I was really happy with how it turned out, and that my first pattern draft was right-on.
One thing that has made it easier to dabble in projects is a new space to work in — I moved furniture around so I have my own creative space by a window that overlooks the patio.
In the world of food experiments, I attempted to make vegan ice cream sandwiches (diy cookies & diy ice cream) for a family Pizza Night last week — they were delicioso but I had some issues with the cookie part. I used the Ooh La La recipe from “Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar” — the batter turned out like frosting (it could have been the hand mixer), which was worrisome, but they baked fine and tasted like brownies. For the ice cream, I used Irreverent Vegan’s vanilla and added chocolate chips.
Not the first time I busted out the ice cream maker this summer — for Fourth of July I made vegan superman ice cream. It had been a long time since I had superman ice cream. I used the recipe from Speedbump Kitchen — the base was vegan marshmallows.
Also in the world of baking, I made poop cupcakes for Vinnie’s birthday, using the peanut butter cupcake and buttercream frosting recipes from “Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World” and a trip to good old Heinrich’s.
