I'm currently plugging away at drawing and screen printing – restocking old things and making new things. But where oh where do these things happen? I will tell you!
My primary studio space is at POST – I do the bulk of my work here (printing, designing, packaging, teaching). I also do some work on a little desk and at my sewing machine at home, and I burn my screens at Ocelot Print Shop. So technically I have three workspaces:
POST is a retail store, workshop space, and studio all in one. Here lives my printing table, drying rack, and primary computer. I also have a drawing desk and a bed for my dog Bernadette that live here. I teach most of my workshops at POST, and you can find many of my products in the store in Dog Corner. Our spaces at POST are separated by half-walls, and I have six studiomates: Mutual Adoration, TAIT Design Co, Scarlet Crane Creations, White Owl Jewelry, Amber Barker, and Ashwelle Fiberworks.
At home I have a little desk that I computer and draw at. In my sewing room I sew pouches. I like drawing at night best, and do a lot of it at home where I can be more focused.
3. OCELOT PRINT SHOP:
Ocelot Print Shop is a community screen printing shop in Detroit’s Cass Corridor and it’s where I burn all of my screens. As a member I can rent space by the hour to use the darkroom and washout sink.
